Using Data to Counter Quackery and Alternative Medicine

Michael Marshall, who is the project director of the Good Thinking Society gives a presentation on addressing the widespread issue of quackery, particularly when promoted by authorities or too prevalent for individual intervention. He will discuss examples ranging from NHS homeopathy and alternative medicine in midwifery to questionable charities and overseas cancer clinics. Marshall will explain how a thorough analysis of public data can illuminate the extent of the problem and provide the media with the necessary evidence to raise public awareness and drive change.
